The Geira Roman Road is a gorgeous way to explore the Peneda Geres National Park. Starting this walk in Portela do Homem, located on the border between Portugal and Spain you will discover a part of a Roman road which links two of the main important cities in the Iberian Province: “Bracara Augusta”, nowadays called Braga in Portugal, and “Astúrica Augusta”, the Spanish city of Astorga.
You will walk through oak forests and along the paving slabs left by the Romans, now deeply rutted by two thousand years of cart traffic but also you will be able to see Roman mile markers and memorials distributed all along the path.
On the way we will have time to stop in some spots to admire the breathtaking landscape and visit the local lagoons. You will be able to enjoy the silence and the genuine meaning of nature.
Special offer: 50 % discount for children under 15 years old and discount for groups!
IMPORTANT NOTE: we organize tailor made walking tours in Geres National Park (you can choose between a easy or a moderate walking tour or walking program), please let us know what places you would like to explore during a holiday and we will send our proposals inside of the National Park.
